Your readers are silent. Their subscriptions are not.
Who are they? What do they care about? Where do you find more people like them? Most readers never comment — but the channels they follow answer all three. KnowYourSubs reads those subscriptions for you.
“31% of my subscribers also read Barista Daily.”— the kind of line your first report gives you.
While we test, everything is free — the full report, Radar and the ad-buyer tools included. Prices on this page are what we plan to charge later; they, and the screens, may change.
What KnowYourSubs does
KnowYourSubs is a Telegram bot. It shows who reads your channel or who is in your group chat — and which other channels the same people read.
It compares the real list of your subscribers or members with more than 3 million other channels. So you learn things like “my audience is mostly into coffee, remote work and travel” — and where to find more people like them.
Two kinds of users
You are…
What the bot does for you
Where to read
A channel or group owner
Who your subscribers or members are, what interests them and what else they read. Where to advertise and whom to team up with. Radar: how many people join each day, and with what interests.
An ad buyer (you buy ads in other people’s channels)
Before you pay: how many different people a list of channels really reaches, whom you would pay for twice, what to buy first — and where your target people gather.
The top 10 channels your audience also reads, with the share of your people in each.
Your audience’s interests, each scored from 0 to 100.
A short summary of who your people are, in plain words.
A PDF report you can save and share.
The full report goes further: 100 channels with descriptions, audience segments and where to promote your channel or group.
Audiences, not individuals
KnowYourSubs works with audiences as a whole. You connect a channel or group you run, with your own bot, the way Telegram allows it — and get totals and shares about the people in it. Nobody gets data about a particular person: not you, not advertisers. Overlaps of fewer than 5 people are hidden. How it works
A report is not the goal. A decision is.
Numbers do nothing on their own. Each scenario starts with something the bot shows you, names the decision and the steps in Telegram. The data narrows the guess — the market still decides.
If you run a channel or group
Find your neighbours, not your twins
Choose partners for cross-promotion
Look at
The top 10 channels in your free report. The PDF also shows each channel’s size and how many subscribers you share.
Do
Pick 3–5 public channels on a neighbouring topic, close to your size. Prefer those where your shared readers are only a small part of their audience — the rest are new people with similar tastes. Show the admin the number: “12% of your readers already read me”. Give each partner its own invite link.
Expect
Fewer empty swaps. See who actually came in Radar.
Radar by day: how many people joined and what they are interested in.
Do
Turn Radar on before the ad — it cannot look back. Run one placement per day, each with its own invite link. After 1–3 days, compare that day with ordinary ones: do the newcomers’ interests match your report?
Expect
A “repeat or drop” decision in days, not a month. Many “no profile” and off-topic interests are a signal to ask questions — not proof of bots.
“Where to seed” and gathering places in the full report — or Audience with your own channel as the seed.
Do
Drop channels marked ⚠️ (their readers are already yours) and private ones. Check each channel’s views yourself. Send the rest with prices to Reach: you get the buying order and the cost per new person. Start with 1–2 test posts.
Interests and top channels in the free PDF; segments, languages and places in the full report.
Do
Make one page: your average views from Telegram’s statistics, 3–5 interests, 2–3 segments and 5 well-known channels your readers also follow. Price posts by views, not by subscribers. Mark the figures as estimates, with the report date.
Expect
A conversation about audience fit instead of a haggle over subscriber count.
Interests 0–100: about 100 is the core, about 50 a noticeable theme. The full report adds values, pains and tone of voice.
Do
Tag your last 20–30 posts by these interests. Add 1–2 rubrics on topics near 50 that you do not cover yet — your readers already read them elsewhere. Turn 2–3 pains into practical posts. Compare views over 2–4 weeks.
Expect
A plan based on what your readers read. No tool can promise which post takes off.
Radar warnings: at least 200 people and 5% of the channel or group in one day. For a jump, the newcomers’ interests that day.
Do
On a jump, open Radar for 1 day: lots of “no profile” and off-topic interests while you bought nothing — note the date. On a drop, match it with your calendar: an ad, a change of topic, a giveaway that ended.
Expect
You react the same day. Radar shows when and how many, not who left or why.
Check your audience after giveaways and paid growth
Look at
Your top channels, and the segments and “Risks and biases” in the full report.
Do
Go through your top 20 channels. If more than half are giveaways, “everything” news and promo networks, your audience is diluted. Stop the sources that bring such traffic and check new ads with Radar.
Expect
A clear view of which part of the audience is really yours. It is not a bot count.
A crypto channel, 9,000 subscribers, two paid posts. Radar shows Tuesday +410: mostly Crypto and Finance, 15% “no profile”. Thursday +520: Games and Entertainment, 73% “no profile”, plus a spike warning. Decision: repeat Tuesday’s channel, ask Thursday’s seller questions, do not repeat.
If you buy ads
Buy reach, not repeats
Remove channels that share the same readers
Look at
Reach: unique reach, repeats and the share of budget you pay twice, the most overlapping pairs, the order by new people.
Do
From each overlapping pair keep one — the cheaper one, or the one with better views. Recalculate. Cut the tail where each extra channel adds almost no new people.
Expect
You see how much of the budget buys the same people twice. The saving depends on the niche.
Find out if “different” channels sell the same readers
Look at
The most overlapping pairs in Reach.
Do
Send all channels of the package. If most of the smaller channel’s known readers are shared with another one, it is largely one audience. Buy one channel, or ask for a discount that matches the repeats.
Expect
A number for the negotiation. We see shared readers — not who owns the channels.
The media plan: price, new people and cost per new person for each channel, and the cost per 1,000 unique contacts.
Do
Add a price after each channel and a budget line. Stop where the next channel costs many times more per new person. Show your client two numbers: unique people and cost per 1,000 unique.
Expect
Money goes where a new person is cheapest. Figures are an observed minimum, not a guarantee.
Audience with a competitor’s channels as seeds, or a topic in words. Segment by interests with a country.
Do
Drop channels marked ⚠️. Sort by the share of your people, not by size — small, dense channels are often the best buy. Put the list into 🧺 and add prices. Check each channel for fake subscribers separately.
Expect
A shortlist of channels with readers like yours. The country is an estimate.
A fintech app launches in Mexico and Colombia with 12 channels for $9,600. Reach shows 226,000 unique people and 37% of the audience sum paid twice. After cutting 4 tail channels:

Start with your free report. Connecting takes about 5 minutes.
About 5 minutes to connect, and your phone (or computer) with Telegram. The report itself takes from a few minutes to several hours — see how long.
Update Telegram to the latest version. One of the steps uses a new Telegram feature. Old versions may not have it.
Connect only a channel or group you run. For a channel you must be the owner or an admin allowed to add admins. For a group you must be able to add members — in many groups only the owner and admins can. Telegram does not let anyone else add a bot.
Three words you will meet
Bot
A small robot account in Telegram. It can answer messages and do simple jobs. KnowYourSubs itself is a bot. You will also create your own small bot — it belongs to you, not to us.
Admin
Someone you let help run your channel or group. Every admin has switches that decide what they may do. In a channel your bot becomes an admin with every switch off. In a group it is just a regular member — no admin at all.
Token
A long secret code that works like a key to one bot. With the “Create a bot” button you never see it — Telegram hands it to us directly. You only meet a token on plan B.
Why your own bot?
Telegram shows a channel’s subscriber list only to its admins, and a group’s member list only to its members. We ask you to add your own bot, not @KnowYourSubsBot, so the access stays in your hands: the bot is registered to your Telegram account, and you can remove it from your channel or group at any time — the access ends at once.
If you create the bot with the “Create a bot” button, KnowYourSubs becomes the bot’s manager. That is how we get its key without you copying it. More in Safety and privacy.
Connect your channel or group, step by step
Seven steps, about five minutes. When a picture has something to tap, an orange frame shows it. The pictures show a channel; a group goes the same way, and Connecting a group shows its screens.
If the bot asks who you are, tap 📣 I own a channel or group. If it goes straight to a welcome message, you are already in the right place.
To change the bot’s language, tap a flag under the first message or send /lang.
You will see a welcome message with a menu of buttons.

The bot asks for your channel or group.
Send a link to your channel or group
Send the bot any of these — it works out by itself whether it is a channel or a group:
the @username or link t.me/your_chat of a public channel or group;
an invite link t.me/+AbCd… of a private one;
a link to any message in it — t.me/your_chat/123, or t.me/c/…/45 in a private one (press and hold a message → Copy Link).

Open your channel.
Press and hold any post until a menu appears.

Open your channel.
Tap any post (or press and hold it).
Tap Forward (the arrow).
Choose KnowYourSubs and send.
Open your channel.
Right-click any post.
Click Forward.
Choose KnowYourSubs and send.

🤖 Your own bot is needed
Telegram hands the subscriber list only to a bot the owner made an admin themselves. That is why you need your own bot, not @KnowYourSubsBot — access to your audience stays under your control.
That bot then has to be added as an admin of the channel — there will be a button for it. It needs no extra rights and will never post anything.
Send me a bot token from @BotFather (/newbot) to continue: 123456789:ABCdef...
Send /cancel to abort.
Or just tap «🤖 Create a bot» below — Telegram creates a bot owned by you, and I pick up the token myself.
🤖 Create a bot
Open @BotFather
After you forward a post, the bot confirms the channel and offers to create your bot.
Create your own bot with one tap
The bot’s message also mentions a “token from @BotFather”. You do not need it. Tap 🤖 Create a bot under the message.
Telegram opens its own “new bot” window. The name and the username are already filled in. You can change them — the username must end with bot.
Tap Create to confirm. (The button may be named a little differently on your device.)
This bot is yours: it is registered to your Telegram account. KnowYourSubs becomes its manager — that is how it gets the bot’s key without you copying it. We never use the bot to post.
If Telegram does not bring you back, open the chat with KnowYourSubs yourself. The bot says “Validating token…” and then asks you to add the new bot to your channel or group.
No “Create a bot” button, or it does nothing?
Update Telegram and try again. If you only see Open @BotFather, or the button still does nothing, use plan B: create the bot in @BotFather. It takes about two more minutes.

Any Telegram group works — small or large, public or private, with or without topics. Your own bot joins it as a regular member and reads the member list, which Telegram shows to every member. You get the same report and Radar as for a channel; people are counted as members instead of subscribers.
Send a link. The group’s @username or t.me/… link, its invite link t.me/+…, or a link to any message in it. A forwarded message usually does not work for a group: it points to the person who wrote it.

Group hides its members?
If the group has Hide Members turned on, Telegram shows the full list only to admins. The analysis still works: we check, one by one, the people we already know from other channels — this takes longer (up to an hour extra) and the report covers the members we could confirm. For a fuller picture — and for Radar, which otherwise sees few newcomers in such a group — make your bot an admin of the group with every switch off: Telegram shows admins the member list, in full for groups of up to about 10,000 members.
A small group that Telegram later turns into a supergroup (for example when it grows) is followed automatically — you don’t need to connect it again.

Private channels work too. Send a link to any post (press and hold a post → Copy Link, it looks like t.me/c/…/45) or forward a post. How to read it
Summary — a sentence or two about who your subscribers are, written by our AI from the data.
Audience interests — topics your subscribers care about. The score from 0 to 100 shows how central each topic is to your audience: about 100 is the core, 50 is a noticeable theme, 20 is on the edge. Our AI sets the scores from the data.
Top 10 audience channels — channels your subscribers also follow. “31% of your subscribers” means that 31 of every 100 of your subscribers we could see also read that channel. They are good candidates for advertising or cross-promotion. Only channels that share at least 5 subscribers with yours are listed, so a small channel may see fewer than 10.
PDF — the same report as a neat file to keep or share with partners.
Good to know
All numbers come from the subscribers we could see and match with other channels. Treat them as estimates, not exact counts. If the report says “Limited data so far”, there is not enough overlap yet for firm conclusions.
Reports and PDFs are in English, or in Russian if the bot speaks Russian to you — even if the bot talks to you in Spanish or German.
How long does it take?
Your channel or group
Usual time
Someone analyzed this channel with us in the last 30 days
about 3 minutes for 2,500 subscribers, 7 minutes for 10,000, around 20 minutes for 100,000 (never more than 30 minutes)
A group we have not read in the last 30 days
seconds for a small group, minutes for a large open one; a group that hides its members takes up to about an hour more
We have not read this channel in the last 30 days
from minutes for small channels to several hours for big ones, and up to a day for the largest. Telegram lets us read a subscriber list only slowly.
You do not need to wait in the chat. If our bot restarts, the report still arrives — in a new message. If the progress does not move for 3 hours, the analysis stops with an error; see “Analysis of … failed”.

Send /my_tokens to see the bots you connected (the bot calls this list “Your bot tokens”), and /addbot to connect one in advance, before choosing a channel.
Deleting a bot with 🗑 in /my_tokens only removes it from KnowYourSubs’ list. The bot stays in your channel or group and in your Telegram, and if you created it with the 🤖 Create a bot button, KnowYourSubs is still its manager. To really cut access, remove the bot from your channel or group.
Radar: how many people join, day by day
Your report shows who your audience is today. Radar shows how it changes: how many new people join each day and what they are interested in.
How to use it
Tap 📡 Radar or send /radar. With several channels, choose one.
Choose how many days to show: 1 day, 3 d or 7 d. Radar counts only from the day it started, so at first a new channel shows only 1 day.
You see each day with the number of new subscribers (new members, for a group) and their main interests, plus a summary for the whole period.

Why it is useful: after an ad or a mention you see whether real, on-topic people came — or random ones.
Radar needs a finished first report, because it compares against it. It also sends a warning when your channel or group gains or loses a lot of people in one day (at least 200 people and 5% of it).
Some bot messages still mention a weekly “digest” or a “re-collection”. The digest has been retired: Radar is the daily view above plus these warnings.
Price
During testing Radar is free. It turns on by itself for 30 days for every channel you analyze, so your bot keeps checking your subscriber or member list once a day during that time. After 30 days, tap 📡 Enable (test, free) on the Radar card to turn it on again. If you do not want Radar, remove your bot from the channel or group after you get your report.
After testing we plan to make Radar a monthly subscription in Telegram Stars, depending on channel size:

up to 100,000 subscribers
500 ⭐

Telegram bills a Stars subscription every 30 days (the bot calls this “per month”). To stop it, open Telegram Settings → My Stars, choose the subscription and cancel it. Radar keeps working until the paid period ends. Radar payments are not refunded automatically.
For ad buyers
You buy ads in Telegram channels? Check the channels before you pay: how many different people you will really reach and which channels are worth it.
Early access
The buyer tools are open to everyone while we test, with up to 10 calculations a day (the count resets at 00:00 UTC). Before the first calculation the bot shows short terms of use. Tap ✅ Accept, then tap the tool you want again.
Start the bot, tap 🛒 I buy ads and choose a tool:

🛒 I buy ads
The service is in testing mode. Every feature is free, purchases are off; figures, texts and buttons may change.
Here you check an ad buy before the deal: count the net reach of a channel set, find where the audience you need concentrates, and pick channels by people's interests.
The buttons below: • Reach — a channel list → unique reach, duplicates, buying order; with prices and a «budget N» line — the media plan; • Audience — seed channels or a topic in words → where that audience concentrates; • Segment — interests in words → people by interest profiles → their channels.
Computed over actual subscription overlaps in our graph. Every figure is an observed lower bound.
🎯 Reach — a channel list
📡 Audience — seeds or a topic
🧭 Segment — interests in words
The buyer’s menu: three tools.
Reach — check a list of channels
Send a list of channels, one per line. The bot counts:
Net reach — how many different people read at least one of these channels. This is the real size of your ad audience.
Repeats — the sum of all the channels’ audiences minus your net reach: the extra times the same people are counted. You pay for these contacts more than once.
The pairs of channels that share the most readers.
The order to buy in, so each next channel adds the most new people.
Add a price after a channel (@channel 25000) and a line budget 90000, and you also get a media plan: what to buy, in which order, and the cost per new person. Any currency works, as long as you use the same one for every price.
KnowYourSubsbot
Send the channel list in one message — one per line: @durov t.me/breakingmash -1002466436030
Up to 50 channels per calculation. For a media plan add a price after the channel (@durov 25000) and a budget 300000 line.
📋 Parsed 4 lines: ✅ recognised and found in the graph: 4
🎯 Across 4 channels: Sum of the audiences known to us: 96,400 Unique: 71,200 — that is net reach. Repeats: 25,200 — 26% of the sum you pay for twice.
🔗 Most overlapping pairs (shared known readers): • Barista Daily × Brew Lab — 9,100
🗂 Media plan for budget 90,000 — 3 channels (channel — price · new people · cost per new contact): 1. Coffee & Code — 25,000 · +21,400 · 1.2 per new 2. Slow Mornings — 18,000 · +12,100 · 1.5 per new 3. Brew Lab — 40,000 · +17,300 · 2.3 per new Total: 50,800 unique people (71% of the basket's observed reach) for 83,000 — 1,634 per thousand unique contacts.
Computed over the audience share known to us. An observed lower bound: we do not see each channel's full audience. 🔒 — a private channel, no public link.
A list with prices and a budget, and the result.
Channels can be written as @username, t.me/name or a numeric channel ID (it looks like -1001234567890; the channel’s admin can tell you). Send at least 2 and up to 50 channels. If you send more, only the first 50 recognized channels are counted. Paste the list as text — files are not accepted. Private invite links (t.me/+…) do not work; use the channel ID instead.
Audience — where do these people also read?
Describe your target audience in one of two ways:
By channels: send 1 to 20 channels your target people read (“seed channels”), one per line. Lines after the 20th are ignored. If even one line is not a channel, the bot reads the whole message as a topic. The bot finds the people who read these channels and shows the channels they read noticeably more often than others.
By topic in words: for example specialty coffee. The bot finds channels whose name or description mentions it, then shows where their readers gather. If some of your words match no channels, the bot stops and offers a button to count by the words that did match.
For each channel you see how many of your people read it and what share of its readers they are — the higher the share, the better the ad will hit. Tap 🧺 To the basket (…) to count reach and repeats for the found channels and to build a media plan.
Segment — people by interests, with a country
Describe people by interests, separated by commas: coffee, remote work. The bot picks people whose subscriptions point to these interests and lists channels where such people are much more common than usual.
Interests come from a fixed list; the bot shows which ones it recognized. For a narrow topic, use Audience instead.
🌍 Pick a country — keep only people from one country. The country is guessed from the channels people read and their language, not from their location. If you name a country in your words, the bot uses it, and 🌍 No region removes it again.
🎯 Narrower — … people / 📣 Wider — … people — fewer people with a stronger signal, or more people with a weaker one.
🧺 Reach, repeats and buying order — … channels — count what you get by buying these channels.

Media plan from Audience or Segment
After 🧺, tap 💰 Prices & budget → media plan. The bot numbers the channels. Send one message with the price of one post for each channel, in the same order, separated by commas. Put - for a channel you do not want. Add budget 90000 to set a total budget. Example: 25000, 18k, -, 40000.
How to read the numbers
All numbers count only the readers we can see, so the real numbers are usually higher. Use them to compare channels and plan budgets, not as a promise of results. Results contain only totals — never names, usernames or Telegram IDs — and very small overlaps are hidden (under 5 people; under 20 in Segment).
Some topics are refused on purpose: illegal goods and services, and sensitive categories like politics, religion and health. A refused topic still uses one of your 10 daily calculations.

Safety and privacy
The short answer
The bot you add is yours, created on your account.
We never use it to post in your channel or group, or to write to anyone.
You can switch it off in 10 seconds — remove it from your channel or group.
We work with audiences, not individuals — see below.
What the bot does and does not do
Your bot…
reads the list of your channel’s subscribers or your group’s members
This is the only reason it is there.
checks who is still there (for Radar)
Daily count of who joined and who left.
posts, edits or deletes posts or messages
We do not ask for these rights and never use the bot to post.
writes to your subscribers or members
Never.
reads the messages in your group
We never ask your bot for messages; we only learn which chat it was added to.
adds other admins or changes your channel or group
In a group it is a regular member; in a channel its switches stay off. So it cannot take your channel or group.
sees your personal chats, contacts or Telegram account
A bot sees nothing in your account. In your channel, like any admin, it could see new posts — we do not read or store them.
To be honest with you: in Telegram, every admin bot technically has some basic powers even with all switches off. That is exactly why we ask you to add your own bot: you stay in control, and every action of every admin is visible in your channel’s Recent actions. You can look there any time.
Audiences, not individuals
Only with the owner’s consent. Data comes only from channels and groups whose owners connect them with their own bot. We read no more than Telegram itself shows: a channel’s subscribers to its admins, a group’s members to its members. No userbots, no scraping of other people’s private chats.
Only in bulk. Reports and ad-buyer tools show totals and shares for large numbers of people. Overlaps with other channels of fewer than 5 people are hidden, and a topic in the buyer tools must bring together at least 1,000 people.
Never about one person. The bot does not look people up and never shows who exactly is in an audience. You can’t get a report about a particular person. Names, usernames and Telegram IDs never appear in reports or results.
What happens with the data
Your report goes only to you. Other users of the bot cannot open it.
To build it, our systems receive what Telegram shows an admin of your channel or a member of your group: each person’s Telegram ID, their name and @username if they have them, the account marks Telegram displays (such as Premium, and the last-seen status if the person shows it), and when they joined and who added them. We do not receive phone numbers. Only aggregated figures reach your report and the ad-buyer tools; the underlying lists stay in our systems and are never handed out.
We never show anyone a list of your subscribers or members, their names or usernames — not in your report and not to ad buyers.
Which channels people read together becomes part of our map of Telegram channels. Ad buyers see only totals from this map — for example “12,000 people read both channels” — and your channel can appear in their results by name. Overlaps of fewer than 5 people are hidden.
Your bot’s key (token) is stored encrypted.
Removing your bot stops any new reading. Data we already collected stays in the map. To ask us to delete your channel’s or group’s data, write to us.
How to switch everything off
Remove the bot from your channel or group. A channel: open it → tap its name → Edit (the pencil on Android, Manage channel on a computer) → Administrators → your bot → Dismiss admin. A group: open it → its name → press and hold your bot in the member list (right-click on a computer) → Remove from group. Access ends at once. This is the most reliable way.
If you want, delete the bot itself: open @BotFather, send /mybots, choose the bot → Delete Bot.
Your old reports stay with you in the chat.
Created the bot with the button?
Then revoking the token in @BotFather (/revoke) is not enough: KnowYourSubs manages that bot and gets the new token automatically. Use step 1 or step 2 above.
Protect yourself from fakes
Our only bot is @KnowYourSubsBot. Open it with the links on this site, not through Telegram search — search can show look-alike bots.
Nobody from our team will ever message you first, and we never ask for your login code or password. The only place to paste a bot token is the chat with @KnowYourSubsBot, and only on plan B. Anyone else who asks for these is not us.
@BotFather, the official Telegram bot for creating bots, has a blue check mark.
Payments
In the bot you pay with Telegram Stars ⭐ — Telegram’s own currency. Telegram requires Stars for digital services inside bots.
Buy Stars right in the payment window when you tap a pay button, or in Telegram’s settings. Telegram (or Apple / Google on phones) handles that payment.
We never see your card details.
Full report: 500 ⭐, one payment. Radar: 250 / 500 / 900 ⭐ per 30 days, depending on channel size. These are the prices we plan after testing.
Refunds: for the full report, if the payment could not be confirmed or the report could not be built, the Stars come back automatically. Radar payments are not refunded automatically: if you paid and Radar did not turn on, write to us.
During testing nothing is charged.
Something not working?
First check these four things — they solve most problems:
Your Telegram app is updated to the latest version.
You run the channel or group: in a channel you may add admins, in a group you may add members.
Your bot was added to this exact chat: to a channel as an admin, to a group as a member.
You are in the chat with @KnowYourSubsBot, not with your own new bot. Your own bot does not answer — that is normal.
Sending the channel or group
“Channel not found”
❌ Channel @your_channel not found. Check the username.
The username has a typo, or the channel is private.
Check the spelling of the @username.
Or send a link to any post, or forward any post from the channel instead.
“Couldn't recognise the link”
The bot understands: @username, t.me/name, an invite link t.me/+…, a link to a message (t.me/name/123 or t.me/c/…/45) and a forwarded channel post. Other links — to a folder, a person or a website — are not a chat.
Copy the link again from the channel or group itself and send it.
“That link leads to a person, not a channel or group”
Open your channel or group, copy its link (or a message link) and send that.
“Telegram shows nothing at this link”
The link has a typo, the invite link was revoked or has expired, or the chat was deleted.
Copy a fresh link from the channel or group and send it again.
“Telegram is temporarily limiting channel lookups by name”
Telegram sometimes limits how often a bot may look up channels by name. It is on Telegram’s side.
Forward any post from your channel — this works without a lookup.
Or send a link to any post in it.
“Please forward a message from a channel”
The forwarded message came from a person, a group or a bot — not from a channel.
For a channel, forward a post from the channel itself.
“That doesn’t look like a valid bot token” or “Failed to register bot”
Only part of the token was copied, or the token was changed or deleted in @BotFather.
In @BotFather send /mybots, choose your bot → API Token.
Copy the whole token (numbers, a colon, then a long code) and paste it again.
“Could not fetch the token of @… from Telegram”
Tap 🤖 Create a bot again, or paste a token from @BotFather (plan B).
I pasted the token and the bot said nothing
On the screen “Choose an existing bot or add a new one” the bot waits for a button, not for text.
Tap ➕ Add new bot token, then paste the token.
Adding the bot to the channel or group
“@… is not an admin of …”
KnowYourSubs tells you the reason. Most often: “the bot hasn’t been added to this channel yet” — it was not saved, or it was added to another channel or a group.
Tap ➕ Add the bot to the channel, choose the right channel and save.
A channel we have not seen before must be read from Telegram, slowly. Big channels can take several hours.
Wait. The progress and the time left update in the chat. You can close Telegram.
Check the status in /my_channels → your channel → ⏳ Collection status.
If the progress has not moved for 3 hours, the analysis stops with an error. Then send /analyze again.
“Analysis is already running”
This channel or group is already being analyzed — maybe you started it earlier, or another admin did.
Wait for the report. If someone else started it, try again later — the second analysis is then much faster.
“Analysis of … failed”
Most often the bot was removed from the channel or group, or the bot was deleted, during the analysis. Sometimes Telegram stops answering for too long.
Check that your bot is still there: an admin of the channel, a member of the group.
Send /analyze and start again.
The analysis finished but the report didn’t come
Wait 10 minutes — the bot retries delivery by itself.
Or open /my_channels → your channel → 📊 Show Report.
“Couldn't fetch the report. Try /my_channels.”
Wait 10 minutes — the bot retries by itself.
Or open /my_channels → your channel → 📊 Show Report.
The report says “Limited data so far”
We could match too few of your subscribers or members with other channels yet — common for very small or very new channels and groups, and for groups that hide their members.
The free report is still useful as a first look. Try again later, when more data has accumulated.
The report is in English, but the bot speaks my language
Reports and PDFs exist in English and Russian only for now. The bot’s own messages are translated.
Payments and Radar
I paid, but the full report didn’t arrive
Wait a couple of minutes — it takes about a minute to build.
Tap 🔓 Full report again: if the report is ready or paid, the bot sends it without charging again.
If building failed, your Stars are returned automatically.
Radar says “You need a first report”, “No channels yet” or “coming soon”
Radar compares against your first report, so the channel or group needs one finished analysis. “Coming soon” means Radar is not open for your account yet.
Analyze the channel or group first with /analyze, then open /radar.
“Payment went through, but the subscription couldn't be activated…”
Write to us with a screenshot of this message. You will not be charged twice.
How do I cancel Radar?
During testing there is nothing to cancel: Radar is free and turns off by itself after 30 days.
After testing, Radar is a Telegram Stars subscription. Open Telegram Settings → My Stars, choose the subscription and cancel it. It works until the end of the paid period.
Buyer tools
“Today’s calculations are used up”
Up to 10 calculations a day during testing. Every run counts — including a changed country, “Narrower/Wider”, price lists, and runs that found nothing, were refused or took too long.
Wait until 00:00 UTC, when the count resets.
I typed a command and the bot treated it as my list
While the bot waits for a list or a topic, it reads your next message as that list.
Send /cancel first, then the command you want.
“Still computing…” for more than 11 minutes
The calculation took too long. It still counts toward your 10 a day. Try again with fewer channels or a narrower topic.
Some channels are “unknown to us” or “ambiguous”
We don’t have data on those channels yet, or the name matches several channels.
Use the exact @username or the numeric channel ID.
“The /audience result is no longer at hand” or “The segment is no longer at hand”
The result was reset — after /cancel, /start, another command, or a restart on our side.
Run the calculation again. It counts as a new one.
“Fewer than two channels found…”
Fix the list and send it again in the same chat — the bot is still waiting for it.
/help shows instructions for channel owners
That is how the bot works now. The buyer tools are described in For ad buyers.
Anything else
The bot doesn’t answer me
Make sure you write to @KnowYourSubsBot, not to your own new bot (it never answers).
When the bot is not waiting for something, it does not answer plain text. Send /start or /help.
A sticker or a photo gets no answer — send a link or a forwarded post.
A forwarded post with unusual content (a poll, a new kind of media) sometimes gets no answer. Forward a different, plain text post.
“Start Analysis” in My channels does nothing
Use /analyze instead and send your channel or group again. We are fixing this button.
Questions and answers
Safety
Can you or my bot take my channel?
No. Only the owner can hand over a channel, and Telegram asks for the owner’s two-step verification password for it. The bot you add has no right to add admins as long as you leave that switch off, so it cannot promote anyone — including us.
Will my subscribers notice anything?
In a channel — no. Subscribers can’t see your channel’s admin list, and Telegram doesn’t notify them when you add an admin. In a group, Telegram shows its usual line that you added a member, and the bot appears in the member list. The bot itself never writes anything.
Will my bot post ads or messages?
No. It never posts, edits or deletes posts or messages and never writes to your subscribers or members. In a channel every admin switch stays off; in a group it is a regular member.
Can my bot remove my subscribers?
Technically, yes. Telegram gives every admin bot some basic powers even with all switches off, and these may include removing subscribers. We never use your bot for anything but reading the subscriber list. That is why the bot is yours: you can remove it any time, and every admin action, including removing a subscriber, is shown in your channel’s Recent actions for 48 hours.
Why does an analytics tool need admin rights at all?
Because Telegram shows the list of a channel’s subscribers only to its admins. Without it we could only guess from public numbers. A group needs no admin rights: its member list is visible to members, so your bot joins as a regular member.
Why can’t I just add @KnowYourSubsBot?
Telegram shows the subscriber list only to a channel’s admins, and the member list only to a group’s members. We ask you to add your own bot so the access belongs to you: remove the bot and the access ends. @KnowYourSubsBot itself never joins your channel or group. If you create your bot with the 🤖 Create a bot button, KnowYourSubs becomes that bot’s manager — this is how we receive its key.
What is a token? Is it my password?
No. A token is a key to one bot only — not to your Telegram account, chats or contacts. With the “Create a bot” button you never even see it.
Someone from “support” asks for my token or login code. Is that you?
No, never. Nobody from our team will message you first or ask for your login code, password or token. Block and report such accounts.
Is this allowed by Telegram? Can my channel or group get banned?
Adding a bot as an admin is a normal Telegram feature that many analytics services use. KnowYourSubs is an independent service: it is not made, checked or approved by Telegram. We are not aware of any channel being restricted for adding an admin bot like this, but we cannot promise how Telegram will apply its rules. Adding a bot to a group as a member is just as ordinary. Your bot only reads the subscriber or member list: it does not post, send messages or change anything. If you are unsure, you can remove the bot right after you get your report — see How to switch everything off.
How do I know it is the real KnowYourSubs bot?
Open it only through links on knowyoursubs.com: @KnowYourSubsBot. Telegram search can show look-alikes.
Data and privacy
Do you see my subscribers’ or members’ names or phone numbers?
Our systems receive what Telegram shows an admin of your channel or a member of your group: each person’s Telegram ID, their name and @username if they have them, and the account marks and join details Telegram displays. We do not receive phone numbers. We use this to match people across channels and count totals; reports and buyer tools contain only aggregates. We never show names, usernames or IDs to anyone — not in your report and not to ad buyers. Reports contain only totals and shares.
Will competitors or advertisers see my audience?
Your report is only yours. Ad buyers can see totals from our map — for example how many people your channel shares with another channel — and your channel can appear by name in their results. They never see lists of people, and overlaps of fewer than 5 people are hidden.
Does the bot read my posts, comments or group messages?
No. We do not read or store your posts, comments or group messages. The analysis uses the list of subscribers or members and the chat’s name and description. Like any admin, your bot could technically see new channel posts — we do not use that.
Can I get data about a particular person, or check a list of people?
No. KnowYourSubs works only with audiences as a whole — a channel or group you connect. It does not look people up, shows no one’s subscriptions and has no report about a particular person. Overlaps of fewer than 5 people are hidden.
How do I remove my bot later? What stops working?
Remove it from your channel or group (see How to switch everything off). Your reports stay with you. Radar and new analyses stop until you add a bot again.
Using the bot
Is it free?
The report with the top 10 channels, interests and PDF is free. After testing we plan to charge 500 ⭐ for the full report and 250–900 ⭐ per 30 days for Radar. During testing everything is free.
I am an admin, not the owner. Can I connect the channel or group?
Yes, if you are allowed to add admins (for a channel) or members (for a group). Please connect only chats you run, or with the owner’s permission.
Does it work for groups (chats), not only channels?
Yes — any group: small or large, public or private, with topics or without. Send its link, and your own bot joins as a regular member with the ➕ Add the bot to the group button; you get the same report and Radar. See Connecting a group.
Can I connect several channels or groups?
Yes. One bot can serve all your channels and groups — add it to each and run /analyze for each.
I already have a bot (for comments, posting…). Can I use it?
Please create a new one with the 🤖 Create a bot button — it takes a minute. If you paste the token of a bot you already use, we get full control of that bot, including any rights it has in your channels, such as posting. A bot that another service already uses also can’t tell us which group it was added to. A new bot with every switch off is safer.
My new bot doesn’t answer. Is it broken?
No, that is normal. Your bot only reads the list of subscribers or members. All conversation happens in @KnowYourSubsBot. A bot created after 29 September 2026 shows a short description that points you back there.
What should I call my bot?
Anything you like. The username must end with “bot”. In a channel only you and the other admins see it; in a group it appears in the member list.
Can I analyze my channel or group again?
Yes, send /analyze again. If we read it in the last 30 days, the new report uses that same list, so it arrives within minutes and will look much the same. After 30 days the bot reads the list again, which can take hours for a big channel. The latest report is always in /my_channels → 📊 Show Report; older ones stay in your chat history. How accurate are the numbers?
Counts include only the readers we can match with other channels, so the real numbers are usually higher; shares are estimates. For choosing and comparing channels, that is what you need.
Which languages does the bot speak?
English, Spanish, German and Russian. Reports and PDFs are in English or Russian.
Words used in the bot
Overlap
People who read both your channel and another one.
Group (chat)
A Telegram group where members can write. KnowYourSubs analyzes groups the same way as channels; their people are called members instead of subscribers. Your bot joins a group as a regular member.
Share of your subscribers
How many of every 100 of your subscribers also read that channel.
Net reach (unique reach)
How many different people read at least one channel in a list. Each person counts once.
Repeats (duplicates)
The extra times the same people are counted across your list: the sum of the audiences minus net reach. You pay to reach these people more than once.
Media plan
Which channels to buy, in what order, and the cost per new person.
Seed channels
Channels your target audience reads, used to describe that audience.
Segment
A group of people chosen by their interests.
Interest score (0–100)
How central a topic is to your audience: about 100 is the core, 50 is a noticeable theme, 20 is on the edge.
Radar
Daily view of new subscribers or members and their interests.
Coverage (“cov.”)
How much of a channel’s audience we can see at all.
Core
In Audience: people who read two or more of your seed channels — the most reliable part of the audience.
×2.4 (lift)
How many times more common your people are in a channel than on average.
Bot manager
A service that runs a bot for its owner. When you create your bot with the “Create a bot” button, KnowYourSubs becomes its manager.
Telegram Stars ⭐
Telegram’s currency for paying inside bots.
Recent actions
A log in your channel’s settings that shows what every admin did in the last 48 hours.
